Письмо Директора Всемирного совета по экологическому строительству Кристины Гамбоа членам WorldGBC о результатах 2021 года

Dear WorldGBC Member,

Our network has continued to deliver our global, industry-shifting strategy - Sustainable Buildings for Everyone, Everywhere - and its three North Star Goals on climate action, health & wellbeing, and resources & circularity. Your valued membership and engagement
ensures that we continue to accelerate the decarbonisation and sustainability of the built environment.

Our collective voice has never been more influential.

We have had a historic year for sustainability in the built environment. Our mission was elevated by the dedicated Cities, Regions and Built Environment Day (CBRE) at COP26, the world’s most influential climate summit, which took place this November in Glasgow, Scotland.
Our goals for decarbonisation were included in the UNFCCC Human Settlement Climate Action Pathway, and we are increasingly seeing local and national governments recognise the importance of legislating for improved policies.

Together, our network played a leading role at COP26 as we worked side-by-side with the UN High-Level Climate Champions, the UK government and a group of leading civil society organisations under the #BuildingToCOP26 Coalition.

Playing a leading role in delivering CRBE Day on 11 November 2021, we sent three powerful message to governments, businesses and civil society:

1. The built environment must be prioritised as a critical climate solution

2. The financial sector needs to step up its support for sustainable infrastructure

3. We need bolder and more ambitious regulations to enable this transition.

WorldGBC co-led the development and delivery of Presidency events across CBRE Day at COP26, which saw 196 countries and 120 world leaders in attendance with over 39,500 people present, and millions more watching online. As a front runner initiative in the UN’s Race to Zero, 44 businesses representing $85 billion annual turnover signed up to our updated Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment.

Your leadership matters more than ever before

Your invaluable leadership has been, and continues to be, instrumental to our shared success.

Our network is only as strong as the cohesion and support of its members, and it is your expertise and collaboration that enable us to move forward.

● Launched two major reports in the lead up to and during COP26:
o Beyond Buildings: Why an integrated approach to buildings and infrastructure is essential for climate action and sustainability’ Beyond the Business Case: Why you can’t afford not to invest in a sustainable built environment

● Registered 88% total member satisfaction with WorldGBC, a 5% annual increase.
